Drive to Survive: National Road Safety Week
Every year, National Road Safety Week serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of safe driving practices. Queensland is full of bustling highways and winding country roads and as we navigate them, it is crucial to prioritise safety for ourselves, our loved ones, and fellow travellers.
The Alarming Reality
Australia witnesses thousands of road accidents annually, resulting in injuries, fatalities and shattered lives. The statistics are sobering:
- Fatalities: Over 1200 lives are lost each year. Road accidents are the biggest killer of Australian children under 15 and the second-biggest killer of all Australians aged between 15 and 24.
- Injuries: There are more than 40,000 life-altering injuries suffered on Australian roads each year.
- Emotional Toll: Families are left grieving, dreams shattered, and futures forever altered.
Our Commitment to Road Safety
At TPIL Lawyers, we stand at the intersection of justice and compassion. As a Firm, we have encouraged all of our staff to take the pledge to:
- Drive as if our loved ones are on the road ahead.
- Remove all distractions and never use our mobile phones while driving.
- Not put others at risk by speeding, driving while tired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Protect all vulnerable road users, especially those whose job places them in harm's way, by slowing down and giving them the safe they need to be safe
